Prophecies
of Doom The entire internet experienced a total blackout on the stroke of midnight which caused stock-market crashes worldwide and corrupted all date reliant systems. At 00:02 on the first of January
2000, plane 204 from Moscow crash landed at Heathrow airport killing
sixty-two passengers and all cock-pit crew. The surprise arrival of Hurricane
Gertrude swept through America flattening central and north-western
areas. A forty foot tidal wave struck Hawaii
in the early hours of the morning devastating eastern costal areas. Mount Vesuvius erupted with volcanic
ash and lava spewing over the surrounding towns and farming communities
bringing New Year celebrations to an abrupt halt. At twelve minutes past the hour of
midnight planet killing meteors struck the ground all across the world
sending the Earth spinning out of orbit and crashing into the flaming
inferno which is our sun. DON'T
PANIC !!
These are not real news bulletins,
but how close did we come? Midnight struck on the eve of the new millennium and the world rejoiced. There were no tidal waves or killer meteors, simply a world swamped by celebration. Now, however, we can see the truth of the matter. The storms, earthquakes, hurricanes and flooding have all occurred, it seems that the millennium simply arrived a little late. The city of Paris was rudely awaken
by terrible storms which flattened forests and homes throughout the
capital. Areas of Northern and Southern
England were swamped with flooding in the early days of the new year. Some non-essential computer systems
have experienced difficulties since the date change. War has ensued between Russia and
Chechnya which could have been caused by the Millennium according to End
of the World theories. In Orissa, India, 10,000 people have
been killed by the effects of the country's worst cyclone in living
memory. DO
PANIC !! These are real events and as such
they are much more frightening. Is the end of the world really nigh
though? I don't think so. No change there then.
New Millennium, New Start, New World, Old Rubbish!
Nothing has changed and our Earth is still turning as it always
has. New Millennium, same
Old World just as we like it.
