But it is not only a question of the right technique,

First you have to go to a store and buy some genuine horse shoe-shaped pieces of tin metal. They are the only tins that are good for predictions. The next thing you need is a spoon specially designed for this purpose. When the twilight of the New Year’s Eve is descending, you can take all the equipment needed and make yourself comfortable near the fireplace. Near midnight it is time to put the tin pieces in the ladle and put the ladle on the fire. When you see that all the tin has melted, you pour it carefully but quickly into a bucket of cold water.

| After you have dug the strange looking lumps of tin from the bottom of the bucket, you have to find the brightest lamp in your house. Place the tin pieces in front of the lamp and find the strange shapes of the shadows, that will reveal the secrets of the becoming year.

Here you get some useful tips for predictions: if a big number of small particles has dropped from your tin, you will certainly have a lot of money next year. So you can safely go and buy a new car next day. If you see a boat in the shadows, you will make a long journey. Start packing, and don’t forget your swimming suit or toothbrush.

| If instead you can’t see anything clearly from your tin, don’t worry. You can place it again in the ladle and melt it once more. And before you notice, the time has passed till morning and you can go to peaceful sleep knowing what to expect from the following year.
