A rider´s club in Örnsköldsvik
Örnsköldsviks Ortens Ryttarklubb, ÖOR, is Örnsköldsvik´s most prominent rider´sclub. It´s the biggest and it´s got the newest stables

Atom and Mimmi, two of the shetland´s ponies.
-Our goal is to promote the equestrian sport in Örnsköldsvik, develop and help everybody at their own level, said the riding-school boss Hans Öhlund. He also admitted that it´s very expensive to ride, it´s kind of a "rich man´s sport". But that is a label that they try to remove.
The riding school
It has 550 members and 430 are riding in the riding school.
The riding-school has got 34 horses, 14 big horses and 20 ponies. It also has
an addition where 19 private horses stay.
There are five instructors working at the riding-school, but there are also 10 other people that help out with lessons for the beginners.
Sections
The competition section organizes trainings and competitions on regular bases. There are about 50 riding-competitors who go in for competing at 100% and the number is constantly growing.
There are two instructors, one in dressage and one in jumping, who come to Örnsköldsvik during some weekends to arrange practice.
The youht section organizes activities for youhts and children, like movie nights, halloween parties and "Lucia" shows.
The disabeld section have treatment and rehab for disabled people, both children and adults. They can ride once a week and spend time with the horses.
"Cooperation"
The riding-school cooperates with Örnsköldsvik´s trottingtrack, Solänget. It´s easy because ÖOR is situated close to the trottingtrack.
The riding-school has got a "drive and ride" group, where the children learn to both drive and ride a horse.
Idealistic work
All members, both parents, children and private riders help out to take care of the horses and the stables, for instance in the evenings and the weekends when the groom is not working.
All the members of the club try to help because the club has had financial problems since it moved to this new place in February 1999. But fortunately they are now getting back on their feet.
