What are the greenhouse effect doing to our earth?

The greenhouse effect will cause a temperature rising with 1-3,5°C all over the world. With the temperature rising follows a lot of changes in our environment. Among the countries that will be affected most is Sweden.

During the past 100 years the temperature rose with 0,5°C, and the temperature will rise 1-3,5°C for the next coming 100 years. Sweden is one of the countries that will be most affected of the temperature rising. Here the temperature will rise with 3-3,5°C. The reason why the temperature will rise is the greenhouse effect. And the main reason for the greenhouse effect is the carbon dioxide. We can’t stop the temperature rising, but we can slow it down a little, by lower the carbon dioxide outlet.

Changes in Sweden
Here in Sweden we will get warmer summers and the winters will grow milder with less snow. We will also get much more rain. It will increase with 20-30%. That will lead to more water in our water streams. One advantage with this is that we will be able to replace up to two nuclear reactors with waterpower. We can also save a lot since the winters get warmer, we don’t have to warm up the houses as much as we need now. The tree production will increase since the summers get longer. The summer will be one month longer in the spring and one month in the autumn. Our flora and fauna will change and the numbers of ticks and noxious animals will increase in the north of Sweden. Along with the heat the storm risks increases. And the risk gets even bigger since several tree-types will disappear in the south of Sweden. But still it’s the poor and tropical countries that will be struck hardest by storms and tornadoes.

The Arctic ice A thing many scientists are worried about is that the Arctic ice is melting faster then it reproduces. But the greenhouse effect isn’t the only reason to the ice-melting. The ozone hole over Arctic is also a large threat. A scientist in Sweden thinks that we should use the natural resources better like wind-, and waterpower. He also think that we should rise the gas price so that people will think before getting into the car and not drive unless it’s necessary.
