Marie Fredriksson

Something very special happened in Örnsköldsvik this summer. The world famous Marie Fredriksson- one of the Roxettes- gave a concert here. It was a sunny and rainy evening in July.

Gun-Marie Fredriksson, even called "Majsan", was born on May 30, 1958, in the little village of Össjö in the very south of Sweden.
She has three sisters, Tina , Ulla-Britt and Anna-Lisa, she also has a brother, Sven-Arne.
Her parents are Gösta and Inez. Marie has two children, one boy named Oskar who is four years old, and one girl named Inez who is seven years old.
Her husband is Mikael Boloys.
When Marie was four, her family moved from Össjö to Östra Ljungby.

Father Gösta was the musical genius of the family, he was a great singer, and in addition he played a couple of instruments. But not mother Inez, she had no music talent at all , and wasnt´t even able to sing Swedish children´s songs.

Inez often had visitors , many friends and relatives often came to visit her.
Every now and then , Marie just stood there in the middle of the room, and sang a song to them. Sometimes she got rewared, because everyone loved her beutiful voice, and then Marie decided. "When I grow up, I want to be a singer!"

Marie Fredriksson in Örnsköldsvik

After eight years Marie Fredriksson was on tour.
On 9 August 2000 Marie came to Örnsköldsvik to sing a few songs. This was the only consert she gave in the north of Sweden, on her summer tour.
The first Marie said was: This is going to be the best day of my life when she came on to the scene. She was great from the beginning to the end, but after six to seven songs the audience couldn´t overhear her with applause anymore.
At the right moment she turned down the tempo with a solo on the piano, after that the audience was on top again.
The audience got what they wanted, an extra number, with the song "Så skimrande var aldrig havet".
At last she thanked the audience for all their kindness.

It wasn´t just people from Örnsköldsvik who came to see her, even people from Argentine came to see their idol.
