Right of common access

Right of common access exist only here in Sweden and means that everyone in Sweden have the legal right of access to private land. You have the right to walk on someones ground, temporary be on someones ground. We can pick berries, mushrooms and other plants, you can do all that if you don’t interrupt the ground owner or cause any damages in the nature.

Right of common
Every thing that isn’t forbidden by law considers allowed that is the right of common access. The right of common access, have in many ways been misunderstood. Most people of us have broken the law sometimes by breaking twigs of growing trees without the ground owners permission. In many cases it’s up to us to decide what’s disturbing to humanity and animals wildlife. The right of common access doesn’t apply every where, exceptions is in, nature reserve and national parks.

Camping
Is temporary allowed on someones ground if you don’t harm the nature, for example cutting down trees for your camp fire, or breaking twigs or disturb the ground owner. But you should ask the ground owner for permission because it feels safer knowing who is camping there. The right of common access is also valid at the sea. We can drive a boat, take a bath and walk over the ice’s even if it is near houses without breaking the law. It’s allowed to moor your boat to another jetty, but if the owner comes and you don’t move your boat you risk to be punished. Jetskis are only allowed in special places that the county administration has decided because it isn’t good for bather the water life.

Our opinions
We think that the right of common access is very good because you can be out and use our beautiful nature, like go camping. But we think that some foreigner have misunderstood the right because they walk over our private gardens , it’s not illegal but normally we in Sweden try to avoid things like that. The right presumably only works when the country has a small population( 9 million) If we had a population of 20 million people the right probably wouldn’t work because the woods couldn’t give us enough of berries wood and so on. Now, we have many foreigners here in Sweden to pick berries. They want to earn money to get a better life, but many of them has been tricked sadly. They have to live in bad conditions, and get less money then they have been promised.

Motor vehicle is not allowed in the nature, only when the farmer is working in the woods or on the fields, but not for fun.
