Athletes caught in dopecontrol A big problem during the Olympic games is the dope-problem. Many athletics have been doped because they want to do the best result and can win the gold medal, but as many times before, they get caught. Many athletes have been caught in the dope control in the Olympic Games which was going on in Sydney one week ago. They have found that the doping is most used in events like gymnastic and weightlift, but also in other events like Track and Field. Among the athletes who have been caught you find the shot-putter and Marion Jones husband - C.J Hunter, however he didn’t take part of the Olympics because of an injury. New System The reason why many athletes have been caught is because they have introduced a new system for the dope. It has become harder for the cheaters to pass by the dopecontrol. The most common substance is nandrolon. After three years work are international scientists sure with the method to trace the cheating. Today the most substances can be traced, for example steroids. Even the cheaters who have used growth hormone can be traced. If an athlete gets caught in the control they risk to loose their medal, if they have won a medal. They can also be suspended from the athletics for many years. In the future scientists will be able to make substances which is unable to trace. "Their will always be cheaters" Says Arne Ljunqvist who is the chairman of the IAAF’s medical committee; was in Sydney to try to stop the doping problem. Swedish athletics rarely get caught because we fight for the honour so we don’t do drugs.
