Nizza (FRANCE): Barbara Fusar Poli and Maurizio Margaglio have won the silver medal of Ice-skating World Championships in Nizza. The gold medal was won by French couple: Anissine-Pezeràt. This year, Barbara and Maurizio have won the gold medal at the European Championships, leaving the French couple the second place, this time. The results achieved by Fusar Poli and Margaglia, are the best of the Italian ice-skating history. (Photo n. 1)

The homeland of ice-skating is, without doubt, Holland. The story dates back to 1572 when a group of Dutch were stopped by Spanish soldiers on ice in front of the harbour in Amsterdam. The Spanish soldiers were armed heavily, and they surrounded Dutch people, around their ships and blocked them on the ice. With big surprise the Spanish soldiers saw the Dutch to come out, that dashing as quick as lightning, on ice-skate, they hit the enemy, and they disappeared invincible.

The Flemish painters have crowded their paintings of many skaters, with full colours and with the wastes of shopping. So the ice-skating was born like a means of transport

You’re wondering why I am talking about skating the question is that I am a professional skater too. I’m skating with a boy. His name is Federico, he is 19 years old. He is very nice and very good at skating too. We have been training together for three months, for two hours every day.

Until four months ago I used to skate with another partner, Alessandro, but we have different characters and point of views so we stopped skating together.

He has found a new partner as I have and I think she’s very unlucky because she must bear him.

For me it is very important to feel in harmony with my partner; it’s essential. This sport is very binding but I love it and for this reason I am ready to do a lot of sacrifices for it!!!
