Swedish food!

In this article we are going to tell you about Swedish food,
and its tradition. In Sweden we have certain food traditions during the year.
And maybe someday you will be able to come here and try them all.

Winter
In Sweden we have certain food traditions during the year.
In spring, in February we eat "semlor". That is a bun which you fill with almond paste and then top with whipped cream. It used to be made only the day before the fast began before Easter, so that people could have a real feast
before the fast. Nowadays it's baked at least for a few months both before and after this date.
As you see its not as healthy now as it was before.

Summer
In June we celebrate something called "midsummer".
On midsummer we eat different pickled herring, with boiled potatoes. A lot of people drink snaps, and sings drinking-songs, during the dinner.

Autumn
In August we eat fermented Baltic herring. It is mostly eaten in northern Sweden.
The herring is fermented in a barrow for about 8 weeks, than it is packed in a tin, and delivered all over Sweden.
You eat that with potatoes, onions, tomatoes and sour cream.
Many people think it is disgusting, but we think is it great!
Sometimes you eat all of this on a bread, which we call "thin bread". You make it in a stone oven.

In the end of August we eat boiled lobster. Together with that we eat toasts and salad.
When people eat lobster, they often have a big party.
They usually wear hats on their heads, they drink, and sing songs.
