Thailand

Prostitution in Thailand is a growing problem, women and children in younger ages haven’t got any choices accept starting selling their bodies. They need to get food for the day.

In Thailand the prostitutionwave started between 1960 and 1970 under the Vietnam war. American soldiers was given trips to Thailand instead of salary. The soldiers who came to Thailand had very much money to spend on the prostituted. And so they did, they spent every daime. To fill the soldiers need of enjoyment, more and more brothels started to grow up. Parts of Bangkok became the centre of a big sexhandel who should give the soldiers needs under their stay.

Men in Thailand have not been particular diligent brothel visitors, but now they have started to make a whole new lifestyle. Young men started visit brothels in connections with parties. One investigation shows that every day 450000 Thai men visit a prostitute.
And that is only the top of the mountain.

Prostitution is very common, you just have to look out through the window and you see a lot of woman who are standing gains a wall and waiting to get picked up. And that’s not just during the night.

" One night I eat on a restaurant, after I had been seated a pair sat down next to me. This pair endures of one 60-year man from German and Thai girl. The man could have been here grandfather. This kind of pair is very ordinary. This sort of people doesn’t care, they found it as normal. This girl sat there with the man quite bored, with here arms who support the head so she not should fall a sleep. She didn’t understand any german but some times she nodded and looked at the man with here big braun eyes."

What can we do?

Unfortunately the countries who have most prostitution, are also the poorest. This country has not sufficient with money to fix this problem. The rich countries must help them. It’s been showing that the problem starts really early. The populations don’t get the education they need, therefore cant get a well-paid job. They still have to support their families, so the last out way is to sell their bodies. And they do unfortunately…
