Desert Island Risks

Have you ever dreamed of living on a tropical desert island, far away from the daily grind of work, rotten weather and unreliable transport? For Tom Hanks in the cinema box office ‘Castaway’ that dream becomes a four-year nightmare.

Tom plays the owner of a successful package delivery business ‘FedEx’. Being a workaholic time is of the essence and he often dreams of the day when time stands still so he could be with his fiancé. On Christmas day he is called away form home to supervise a ‘rush’ package delivery flight. Whilst flying a storm brews and the plane begins to experience serious problems. Tom ends up being the sole survivor of a plane crash, he is washed up on a desert island and his four-year battle for survival begins.

The film realistically portrays what a life for a castaway would be like, loneliness, imaginary friends and many ironic moments. ‘Castaway’ is packed with adventure, discovery and heart breaking emotion.

Already awarded a golden globe Tom Hanks outstanding and convincing acting has definitely put this film up for a winning Oscar nomination. Castaway is a must watch roller coaster of highs and lows, I give it ten out of ten, the best film I’ve seen in a long time.
