When will the United States of America understand?

It’s 11 September 2001, 09,00 an ordinary day for the inhabitants of New York. People were going to work or to school. 15 minutes later they could see an aeroplane crash right into the South tower of World Trade Center. 18 minutes later another plane crashed into the northern tower. A third plane shortly after crashed into defence headquarters Pentagon outside Washington. There was a fourth plane too, but that plane went down and crashed into a field outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Just about one hour later one of the towers collapsed and shortly after the other tower. Several hours later a third building in the area collapsed too.

What was this terrible thing? Who could do such a horrible thing? And to innocent people. There were four aeroplanes, which were hijacked. FOUR!! How could four planes be hijacked? Is there no security at the airports? There were 266 passengers on board the planes. 266, then think of how many people who died on the ground!! Thousands... You can’t imagine the feeling of terror and panic among the people in the vicinity of World Trade Center. Think of all the children who have lost their parents and everyone who have lost their families! This is a work of terrorism. It didn’t take long before USA pointed out a group, al-Qaida, and their leader Usama bin Ladin, who has done many terrible things before and presumably also this.

Al-Qaida- an allied Islamic extremist group

In the late 1980’s, Usama bin Ladin who has hundreds of millions which he uses to finance al-Qaida, founded al-Qaida. There is no exact number of members. They may have several hundreds to several thousands members. Their purpose was to bring all Muslims in Afghanistan together and fight against the Soviet invasion. But, their goal today is to work together with Islamic extremist groups, from the whole world, and expel the Westerners and non-Muslims from all Muslim countries. In February, 1998, there was a statement issued, saying that it’s a duty of all Muslims to kill US citizens, civilian and military, and all their allies everywhere. And that is a rather strong proof that bin Ladin and his al-Qaida are the ones who are behind all this. First of all, bin Ladin has got the money to finance it. The second thing, the statement I just wrote. But it’s not just the statement, they have done horrible things before.

USA wants revenge.

The President of America, George W Bush went out on television and told the people in America and the rest of the world that this is a war against America and a war against the rest of the world who would like to fight for freedom. This is a war between the world and terrorism, not between the world and a national group, not Islam. Now about a month later, USA, with help from Great Britain, is attacking Afghanistan.
During this month Bush has told the army of America to be ready for an attack against terrorism. Yes, I think it’s right of Bush to fight against terrorism. But is this the right way of doing it? I don’t think so. Well, they are telling us that they just are going to bomb military installations and training camps for terrorists. This would be a perfect thing to do, if USA could make sure that that’s it. But there are innocent people who are suffering for this. Civilian people are running away from their homes in Afghanistan right now. Running away from the bombing and the war. USA is no better than the terrorist at this moment. American bombs are killing innocent people. And thousands of people children will be starving to death if this continues. Well I guess that USA thinks it’s ok, because the Americans aren’t just dropping bombs on them. They are also ”bombing” them with food. That’s what I call double standard of morality.

I think the first thing USA has to do is to find Usama bin Ladin, and his closest assistants. OK, that’s easy for me to sit here and say that, I know. But you have to think a little bit. The terrorist aren’t just in Afghanistan, they are all around the world. And the next bin Ladin is just waiting round the corner to take over when they’ve got the real one. So if they get bin Ladin, we are one tiny step closer the goal; No terrorism, but this is a long way ahead of us. As Bush said in his speech: ”Our war on terror begins with al-Qaida, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated.” Here Bush is right, but will every terrorist group ever be found? I think that every day there are many people who are being a member in a group. Just think how many children who are being raised to hate. An example is the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The Israelis children are born to hate Palestine’s and vice versa.

What will they do next? Now when they are bombing Afghanistan, I don’t think that the inhabitants start to love USA. Not when their homes are being destroyed. USA bombing Afghanistan will just create an evil circle. What will the terrorists do after this? Don’t fly aeroplanes, do not live in skyscrapers. The revenge towards USA will be more suicide attacks, says a member of al-Qaida to all the Muslims in USA and Great Britain. There is also going on, what you can call, a biological warfare against USA. And the horror is spreading in the whole country. Some weeks ago, a letter was found, which contained an infection called anthrax. Even though the infection doesn’t spread from people to people, there is a big horror in the whole country. More letters with anthrax have been found in USA. And so far three people have died. They are doing everything they can to find those who are guilty of this. According to protection of infection institution, CDC in Atlanta, this is a work by professionals. And that means the anthrax is produced in a laboratory.

USA- the biggest, the best. The Taliban government has said that they are ready to hand over bin Ladin to a third country, so the trial will be in a neutral country, if USA stops the bombing and presents some proof that he is guilty to the attack against USA 11 September. But did Bush and USA accept this? No, of course not. There is no time for negotiations. All the Talibans have to do is to hand over bin Ladin, his assistants and destroy his ”place”. The war against Afghanistan will continue as long as they don’t comply with these terms. This is the message from George W Bush, President of America. I’m not surprised; once again USA is the biggest, the best. If they say no negotiations there are no negotiations, although the Taliban government is ready to negotiate. USA has to stop giving the impression that they are the biggest, the best. I think that there are a lot of people, groups that are rather irritated over that ”USA rules the world”. The terrorism cannot be wiped out by a war. I have said it before and I say it again, this is just starting an evil circle.

I’m not supporting the terrorists, absolutely not, but I’m not supporting USA and the attacks against Afghanistan either. I don’t think war is a solution to anything. But I also don’t know what the solution is. Will there ever be peace in the world? How many years will it take until everybody can live together in peace? And when will USA understand that they cannot use violence to solve a ”problem”?
