The Super Swede!
| The Swede that left Italy and took over the English national Team in soccer. A team without self-confidence. "Svennis" changed it all and took the team to the World Championship in Japan/South Korea. Sven has the second most important job in the country after Tony Blair. Sven has an annual income of 1,4 billion pounds. Sven is going to be historic, when he becomes a wax doll in the world famous Madame Tussaud’s waxcabinet in London. |

Sven has given back the self-confidence to the English soccer.
"-He thinks, he understands soccer. It’s ironic that it had to be a foreigner to lift the team and take in younger players, such as Owen and Joe Cole. Sven dares to try new and young players, he gives them self-confidence and that make them grow". Said one of "Svennis" supporters. In the qualifying group they met Germany, which they have had big troubles to beat. But this time they won with 1-5 in Germany, one of the greatest victories ever!! In the last match against Greece, it ended up in a tie. Beckham scored in the 91:st minute with one if his magical free kicks. If they had lost the game, they would have had to play even more qualifying games. Thanks to "Svennis" and Beckham the team are now qualified. With "Svennis" in the lead, they only have had one defeat, against Holland in a friendly game. "Svennis" with his cool acting and poker face, has been a great complement to the English team, which is known to be rather aggressive.
When Sven needs a recharge.
When he needs to recharge his batteries he likes to bath, spend time with his parents and friends or just read a book in the garden, often English books. And he spend the time in Torsby, where he is born.
He admits that he misses Lazio, especially the contact with the players. The victory of the Serie-A with Lazio is one of his greatest ever. In Lazio he had mental training with the players, which he cannot do with the National Team, cause there is no time for such things.
The captain.
Many people got confused when he chose Beckham as captain, but now they all agree that it was a good decision to make, and "Svennis" says that Beckham will be captain for many years, at least as long as he is there. In England, the players call him "Boss", and in Italy and Portugal it was Mister Eriksson. He doesn’t think that he will be manager when the five year contract expires. If he would take over a club again, he would like a club in Spain.
If he would chose one Swedish player in the English Team, he would chose Patrik Andersson..
The coaches before him.
The coaches before him have done some good things, but mostly bad. Some of the old coaches were: Bobby Robson, he fired Kevin Keegan, and that was the beginning of an eight year war with the press. Graham Taylor, After he missed the WC in 1994 he left the team. Glenn Hoddle, lied to media to trick opponents. He also used a spiritual guru both for himself and the injured players to heal. The most recent coach, Kevin Keegan, left the team after the hope for qualifying for the WC was out. But Sven-Göran Eriksson, made the impossible look easy, he took the team to the World Championship.

England would win the whole World Championship? Would he get Tony Blair’s job? But what if they loose every game? OK, he lead the team to the WC, but will that be enough for the English press? You never know... All these questions and more will be answered at the end of next summer!!
