The European Studies group at Meanscoil San Nicolás in Ring, County Waterford , Republic of Ireland has discussed the topic "Being European - National and European Identity". They have sent their opinions about in which ways they are Irish and about goals for the future of Europe to the partner schools. Five ways in which they are Irish The traditional Irish music - is a big part of the Irish culture. The Irish Dancing - is a skill as well as a hobby and takes years of practice. The language - Irish is their first language. They are happy to live in one of the few ‘Gaeltacht’ areas left in Ireland. The traditional Irish jewelery - such as Claddagh Rings and Celtic Crosses. The festivals - Lots of festivals are associated with Ireland, i.e. the Guiness jazz festival and St. Patrick’ s Day.
Five Goals for the Future of Europe The Euro currency to be introduced in the remaining EU member states and all the European countries. That there will be a land-link from each European country to mainland Europe. That each EU member state will have the same amount of MEPs regardless of their population. That law enforcers would work together to prevent criminals from escaping to other countries and that they would not be safe just by leaving the country.
