The decision to write this article arose after having watched the film, ”Braveheart”. According my opinion a film that contains some important points.
I watched it, for the third time, few days ago and I can confirm my first impression as one of the important events of the everyday life.
The film tells of a courageous cavalryman , William Wallace, performed by Mel Gibson, that after having seen his wife raped and killed he could transform Scottish in warriors that fight to defend their rights to ptotect their native land.
William Wallace, the main character, will die at the end but untill he has voice he’ll shout his message of liberty.
Today everyone thinks to be free and do what he wants, but he is wrong. For me a person’s freedom can be expressed when he behaves in a proper way, including being well educated, know the laws, and he respects his own rights and duties but also the ones of the others.
Nowadays we are free in the western countries but we know that in the past million of persons died to obtain this value called liberty
In Italy we had an example of this fight during the period called “ The Resistenza” a secret illegal army of voluntary people who fought during (1943-1943).
Common persons joined the army to help the Allies to defeat Germany in the Second World War.
Surely I can’t be indifferent listening to these events, such as million persons decide to rebel. I don’t know if William Wallace is really existed, but watching the film I admired him, for his grit and his passion and also how this man encouraged his army: his shouts, his incentives and his clever, brought me to live in the film.
I suggest you to watch this film even if it is old (1995), because you’ll be dumbfound and also you can think at your origin or the origin of your nation.
You can also think how many persons died only to get what they have dreamt.
