PIRELLI SKYSCRAPER: ACCIDENT OR
SUICIDE
Friday,
19th April 2002 at 17:47, Milan and all the world plunged back in the
fear of the 11th September.
A
plane crashed in Milan and hits
perfectly the Pirelli skyscraper, the highest building in Milan, called
affectionately by Milanese “Pirellone”, seat of the Lombardy Region
administration.
The
impact caused three victims and a lots of wounded.
The
hypothesis of a terrorist attack was prove wrong by the Interior Minister,
Claudio Scajola, that though immediately to the probability of the accident or
of the suicide.
Till
now, the followed way by the police is the suicide and so they try to discover
in the pilot’s past life of the Aero Commander RC 112TC taken off from Locarno
in Switzerland that should have landed in
Linate
airport in Milan.
The
pilot’s name was Gino Fasulo, he was 67 years old and for the detectives, in
this time he was in financial difficulty because he was full of gambling debts
and for this he made the mad gesture.
The
first reaction for us Italians, were of the extreme fear, because the Italian
Police and the American CIA, informed our Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, of
an imminent danger of attacks from Islamic extremists in important Italian
cities like Rome, Milan, Venice and Florence.
In all the world there was
the same fear, but above all in USA, where the President, George Bush, followed
with extreme interest the evolution of the situation.
Fortunately
the evacuation of the skyscraper was facilitated by a test effected after the 11th
September and above all by the immediate intervention of the Firemen that
with helicopter and trucks managed the situation in small time, but in spite of
this, there were two victims, besides the pilot.
