Trip in Europe

We are in the Canary Islands and from here we want to  start the our trip to discover the beauties of th Europe: from Tenerife to Nordkapp, in Norway, going through Greek Islands, Vienna, the Scotland and others wonderful European places.

Canary Islands. If we think  the Canary Islands immediately we think about Tenerife, Atlantic paradise and destination of who wants have a good time. Its principal features, however, isn’t the crystalline beach but is the Teide Mount: the tallest Spanish top with Its 3718 metres. Immersed in an eruptive setting, with rocks coloured of the previous volcanic eruptions, Teide Mount is the principal tourist attraction  of the island. We cannot forget the beach of the black sands (the colour derive of the volcanic eruptions), the fascinating aboriginal culture and a nocturnal vibrant life that make Tenerife one of the most beautiful island of the Europe.

Barcelona and the Catalonia. Always in continuous challenge with Madrid, not only in the sportive atmosphere, Barcelona is one of the most important ports of the Mediterranean Sea. The Catalan city is divided into three shining quarters: the Montjuic, with the “Palau Nacional” that dominates all the metropolis, the Eixample and the Old City characterized of the port and the splendid Cathedral in gothic style. But if we want to make a walk in the woods or to take the sun on the beach, we must visit Catalonia that streches long part of the Pyrenean Mounts with the natural parks, the picturesque churches and the ski-station. Indeed the fond of the sun can select between Brava Coast, with inlet, pine forest and small beach, and Daurada Coast called so for its gilded beach.

Crete and Athens. The Greek islands are full of history, art, myths and legends: Corfu, Rhodes and the CICLADI islands are isles of endless beauty, but maybe Crete describe it most of all because is dominates by many and irregular mountainous massives that characterize the Grecian landscape; because has preserved a proud and independence spirit during the years; because with its blue beaches and with the rest of the Mycenaean civilization (as Palace of Cnosso) is simply the most beautiful.

If we speak about historical construction, Athens is our preferred city: we can admire the Acropolis that dominates the capital with the Parthenon, the Agora, museums and churches. But, for me, the port (the Pireo), still surrounded by the long wall defensive of the past, is the most interesting  historical biulding. However, many splendours of the past there are only in Athens.

Vienna. Ran through by Danube, the Austrian capital is surely one of the most beautiful European cities. The imperial palace are the particularity of the city together with the theatres: the “Opera” and the “Burgtheater” are famous and well-known in all over the world, still for the celebrated concert of New Year’s Day. Naturally not lack the museums: the “Kunsthistorisches Museum” collects the masterpieces Hapsburg with the frescos and the pictures of the European culture and a magnificent room with the Egyptian collection, and the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna with objects dated at the napoleon wars.

The folkloristic atmosphere and the culinary speciality (as the Sacker torte) portray Vienna an enchanter and hospitable city, for me the most beautiful of Europe.

Normandy and Brittany. Characterized by enchanter beach and fascinating historical towns, the western French region are places for the ones who wants make pleasant and relaxing walks along the coast, for then to visit cities full of history and cult. Obligatory stage is the island of Mont-Sant-Michel dominates of the imposing abbey strengthened, with the tides that act as natural defence; we walk only few kilometres and admire the reef of the alabaster, called so because marked of the whitish colour of the rocks. In Rouen, Norman chief town, we can see the Notre-Dame cathedral in gothic style that every years attract thousand of tourist; but the end of this French trip is the town of Carnac, showed on the Atlantic ocean: here 3000 menhir, lined up according to a mysterious sketch, represent one of the prehistoric site most important of the world.

Scotland. The nation is divided into two parts: the Lowlands and the Highlands.

The Lowlands are the productive part of the country: here agriculture, industry and commerce go on the nation.

The capital, Edinburgh, with its medieval and georgian quarters, is one of the European centre more interesting and its museum expose treasure and work of art of many cultures. The other big city of the Scotland, Glasgow, is splendid the historic centre in stone that reflects a large prosperity in the medieval period. Now, however, suffer the competition with Edinburgh.

Mostly traditional images of the Scotland (as kilt, the bagpipes and the whisky) have originated in the Highlands where panoramic walk and great castle are tourists attractive. To contribute at this already wonderful landscape, the Western Isles and the Shetland Islands are places of vast peace and tranquillity, at close contact with the nature and with the Celtic culture.

Nordkapp. North cape is a cliff of 307 metres at plumb on the Atlantic Ocean and every years is visited by thousands tourists of each nation to see the sun of midnight. The lucky that reach to sight this marvellous show aren’t many but, with the fog or the rain, Nordkapp remains a destination full of attractive where our trip ends. Unfortunately.
