Travelling among youngsters

Travelling is very popular today and a lot of people travel to get away from the workday, and to relax. The stress in the society today, is a reason to travel for many people today, to get away a week or two. And nowadays a lot of young people travel too. For the great experiences, the fun, the new contacts and the sun.

To afford these vacations a lot of people work in the summer or during the year and most of the income goes to the travel. Among youngsters today it has become a trend to travel and a lot of them choose to take last minute trips just because it’s cheap and they can go any time of the year. Many travel companies have increased their offers of destinations and hotels for young people because of that. An example is the Beach&Boogie hotels which concentrate on people over 18.They have a lot of activities for the ones who whants that. Greece, The Canarys, Bulgaria, and Majorca, are the most popular travel locations for youths, according to an interview we made with a courier here in Örnsköldsvik. She also said that young people don't go to big cities. Probably because it's expensive to go there. They rather go to a warmer place, with a couple of friends, where they can have fun and bath in the sun.

Greece is very popular
Greece is a country to which the Europeans return year after year to enjoy the sun, the warmth and to sun and swim in the Mediterranean. One disadvantage is that it's quite expensive here. There are 1425 islands which belong to Greece, and 51 of them are inhabited. Among the youngsters Kos, Rhodes, Crete, Corfu and Ios are the most popular.

Kos: Kos is the third biggest island among the twelve islands. It is in the south east of these twelve islands and near the Turkish coast. Kos is known as the "party island" where the youths can have fun in the summer. Kos is maybe the greatest Greek island with Beach and Boogie hotels as the largest attraction. But other people, for example those who like to bike, also know it. Kos has a variable nature with fruit and vegetable plantations. The season is between April and October.

Rhodes: Rhodes is the biggest island among the twelve islands. It's situated near the Turkish coast and has most days with sunshine per year. Rhodes is the most popular place to go to of the Greek islands, much because of the variation of the supply. On the West Coast you can go swimming and bathing, but young people rather go to the city where most people are.

The city also has a lot of entertainments. From Rhodes there are many tours for example to Marmaris in Turkey, Lindos or Symi.

Corfu: Corfu is the greenest and most beautiful island in Greece and there are a lot of small beaches there. What entices the young people is the great shopping and the entertainments in Corfu City. Youths also like to go to Gouvia where there are a lot of nightclubs, bars and restaurants.

Ios: Ios has a reputation of beeing the party island. Not many places have such intense nightlife; therefore a lot of young people come here. Ios has long, wide beaches covered with the finest sand and crystal-clear water.

Spains islands

Majorca: Palma Nova is on the southwest side of Majorca. Many youngsters go to Palma Nova. There are many discotheques, nightclubs, musicbars and restaurants there. Ther are three really nice beaches with fine-graind sand. Majorca has a very nice nature that has not been destroyed by the tourists. A big city is Palma, situated 20 km from Palma Nova and there you can go shopping. The best time to go here is between April and October.

The Canary Islands: Playa del Inglès, is the place on the Canaries where the nightlife is the best. Here you can find a variation of pubs, discotheques, and musicbars for all ages.The Canaries lies in the Atlantic Sea and in the summertime, when the temperature in the water is high, the beaches are full. Most people visit the Canary Islands between April and October. But you can also go here in the winter. Then the temperature is 20^º C.

The cheep Bulgaria
Sunny Beach is a very popular place for young people. Bulgaria is next to the Black Sea and Sunny Beach has golden sand and is very shallow. The beach is about 6 km long. It's very cheap in Bulgaria, for example: you can buy a big pizza for 25 Swedish crowns which is about 2,50 Euro. There are about ten discotheques in Sunny Beach, several bars and nightclubs and one casino. It's best to go to Bulgaria between May and September. The shopping in Burgas is also quite good, and most people buy silver jewellery, CDs, shoes or leather stuff.
