A TRIP IN MANTUA

 

Mantua is a city of the Low Padania Plane, in Lombardy, not very far from Milan, wetted by the Mincio River.

It is a cheif town of considerable artistic importance.

When you arrive in the city, you could visit Sordella square, the   center of the political and cultural activity of the Renaissance Mantua, the cathedral of S. Andrew that acted as mausoleum of the powerful family of the Gonzaga.

You could also visit the Ducale Palace, ancient center of the splendid palace of the Gonzaga.

Between the numerous runs, courtyards and gardens, Room of the Beginnings is  of particular esteem , where  the frescos in the room of the Mantle and the famous room of the bridegrooms, picturesque masterpiece of the ‘400, were discovered.

An other important museum in the Palace of the Tè, the villa of the duke Fred II Gonzaga; the palace was theater of important events. To his inside you could see Room of the horses, Room of psyche, Room of Fetone, Room of the plasters and finally Room of the Giants.

Manutua is the main point cultural center, it was the country of the poet Virgilio, but also the famous poet Petrarca had  bonds with the city, in fact he often went there and frequented the gentlemens, the [Corradi] from Gonzaga.

Petrarca was tied up above all for the affective ties, of thankfulness and, like for Dante, inspiring muse, Laura.
