THE
WORLD OF THE ITALIANS.

Over at Bishop Heber High School we’ve
recently had some Italian exchange students staying over with host
families. Five have been interviewed
and here’s what they had to say………………………..
Name: Mirko Rosso
Age: 18
Host
Partner: Francesca
Jones from Tattenhall
·
What
do you think of our school? It’s better than an
Italian School as it’s bigger and cleaner.
·
What
are the differences? You can’t smoke in this school and the
lessons are different. Here there are
less subjects and you change classrooms for every lesson. In Italy we don’t, also there are less exams
but in Italy we don’t have G.C.S.E’s.
·
How
long have you been learning English for? 10 years.
·
What
do you like about England? I like the girls (some!)
and it’s peaceful and quiet.
·
What
don’t you like about England? The smell of the
countryside and the weather, it’s better in Italy.
·
What
has been your favourite day whilst being on the exchange?
It was going to Liverpool and visiting the Art Gallery as well as the
Docks and shopping.
·
What
have you been doing at night time? Every night we went to
the pub but in England you don’t go dancing as much. English beer is ok, it’s the same as Italian beer.
·
What
do you think of English music? I’ve not really heard the
music but the style is very different.
·
What
have you bought? An Everton T-shirt.
·
What
Job do you have? I work in a Warehouse.
·
What
are your hobbies? Football, basketball,
motorbikes (he has one!) and girls.
·
What’s
your favourite film?
The Fast and the Furious- I watch mostly dubbed American films the Italian
films are boring.
·
Who
is your favourite actor/actress? Angelina Jolie
·
What
is your favourite song? T.V.A.B. by Morella. I like disco music.
·
What
are your ambitions? Maybe go to university at 18/19 and study economics. I want to be a director of a company.
Name: Claudio Knippel
Age: 17
Host
Partner: Sian Brown
from Tattenhall
·
What
do you find most boring? Sitting in all lessons
with nothing to do.
·
How
long have you been learning English for? 9 years.
·
What
do think of Tattenhall? It’s very quiet, smaller
than my home village and I don’t like the smell of the Countryside!
·
What
has been your favourite day? Going to Liverpool,
shopping and visiting the Art Gallery and the Docks.
·
What
do you think of the night time here? It’s boring! We went to the pub every night, in Italy we
go out dancing or clubbing every night.
·
What
do you like in England? I like the English beer,
it’s similar to Italian beer. I like
the girls, they’re different to Italian girls.
·
What
about English music? Not really heard but it’s different to
Italian music. I like disco music, and
my favourite DJ is Mollela.
·
What
presents have you bought for your family? A Liverpool scarf and a
pullover.
·
What
are your hobbies? Football, going out with my friends and
motorbikes (Grand Prix).
·
What’s
your favourite film? The Fast and the Furious, I mostly watch
American films dubbed over.
·
Who
is your favourite actor/actress? Julia Roberts
·
What
are your ambitions? To be an important person
·
What
about University? I don’t know, maybe I’ll go when
I’m 18/19 and study economics.
Names: Frederica Liguori, Enrico
Carruci and Giuseppe Manzolillo.
What do these three have
to say about England and Bishop Heber High School?
·
The
School is big and the families we are staying with are very friendly. The Sixth Form Common Room is really good.
·
We
don’t like the price of cigarettes, they are too expensive, the weather is
horrible and the pubs close too early!
·
We
like the teachers here as they let you sit by your friends whereas in Italy
they move us around.
·
Our
favourite moment was going to Liverpool as we were all together and being able
to go out to the pubs every night was good.
·
We
like Liverpool and Newcastle football teams.
·
It’s
really good because at 17 you are able to drive but in Italy you have to be 18,
although we are able to drive a scooter at 14 and in England you have to be 16.
·
In
England you have to be 18 to drink but in Italy you can drink at any age.
·
Our
bad moments over in England were being on our own as we don’t understand all
the time. In Italy we stick -together
but in the UK you bond.
·
We’ve
learnt lots of English and have picked up on more words but we don’t really
understand when watching English TV but we like the cartoons.
·
For
the future they would all like to go to University. Frederica would like to be a Banker, she likes maths but Enrico
and Giuseppe would like to be Lawyers.
