EASTER IN ITALY
After Christmas, the most important religious feast is certainly represented by Easter with a lot of religions and culinaries habits and traditions.
This day is the most important for the Judaic and it represents the liberation of Israel, while the Christians remember the resurrection of Jesus, dead to save us from the sin.
The Christian Easter, as in Italy, is preceded by a period of 40 days that begins with the "Ash Wednesday", the lent.
In the last days, before the Sunday Easter, in Italy, as in other catholic cities, there are many rites and events.
In this occasions, there are a lot of ceremonies, the houses are blessed, the people eat the lamb and eggs of choccolate, for the happiness of all children.
They are, with the dove-cake, the culinaries traditions most famous.
The easter eggs in Italy are usually big, empty and contain little surprises: the people give the eggs as presents, because the Easter coincide with the beginning of the spring.
Easter Sunday, after the mass, the families celebrate the Easter with a merry and abundant lunch. The lunch menu of Easter arent all identicals, but they vary from a city to the other cities, everyone is famous for a tipical food.
About the date of Easter, it changes every year because it is founded on the cycle of the moon and not on the calendar: but it is generally in spring time.
The following day to the easter Sunday, the Easter Monday is dedicated to the trip far to home, with the tipical picnic and the walks in countryside, after the winter lethargy, so who has celebrated the Easter with abundant lunch, he can take advantage from the Monday to burn some calories.
