CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS

With the term "criminal organizations " are understood all the forms of delinquency create with the purpose to have the control on illegal activity (for example the drug, the prostitution, the contracts, the hazard games, etc…), a fundamental characteristic of these Associations is their rigid organization.

As concerning Italian most important organizations are:

The "Mafia" ([Sicilia])

the "racket" ([Campania])

the "'ndrangheta" ([Calabria])

The "Sacra Corona Unita" ([Puglia])

 

It is very diffused in the Neapolitan area: it took root in the country through a rigid hierarchical organization that had the task to check all the "Malavita".

The racket, in many cases, gives "protection" to the dealers, local retailers, in change however of a payment of tangent from them.

Besides the Racket, in many cases, took the place of the power of absent or corrupt rulers and, during the Reinaissance it was also a support for the groups who wanted to become politicians since they had a strong ability of penetration in the social masses.

Today the Neapolitan territory has invaded from this illegal organization.

Surely the Sicilian mafia is among the more powerful organizations, but above all it is present in all the Countries by now. The term "Mafia" has the meaning of "protection, guarantee" and the dealers are victims of extortions, fires; many cities are under the mafioso power.

In t May 1992 Mafia decided to eliminate a very dangerous adversary for them: Giovanni Falcon and, with this act, the Mafia wanted to give a proof of his power. Beyond Falcon also Borsellino was killed by the Mafia too. Both of them knew how to be in their viewfinder, but they have shown to have courage and fidelity continuing to fight it.

The 'ndrangheta is definite the "Calabrian mafia" with really ancient origins; as regards the other organizations the 'ndrangheta has a family base. An of the principal activities of the 'ndrangheta is the people kidnapping , thank you to the fact of power count on the impenetrability of the Aspromonte used like shelter after the kidnapping.

The "Sacra Corona Unita" crown has called the also "fourth grade mafia," and it is the mafia Pugliese. Up to the years '60, the crime was mainly for t farmers but toward the years '70 it began to form local organizations .

The "fourth grade mafia" is composed by three big organizations:

the sacred crown

the rose

the new Salentina family

To the actual state well four Italian regions of the south (Campania, Sicily, Calabria, Puglia) has invaded from the organized delinquency, that however are revealed on all the national territory and they have connections with the world criminal organizations around the world.
