What kind of books does the youth read in Örnsköldsvik, and are there any differences between girls and boys when it comes to choosing books? Our group did a research on reading habits. We made some questionnaires and handed them out in our class (sp2a) and our neighbour class (sp2b). We found out that the interest for horror books are almost as large for the girls as for the boys, and according to our reasearch boys read more often than girls. Apart from reading about the results of our research you'll get to know about the library of Parkskolan, and get a book tip on one of the horror author Koontz's books. Most of the girls read novels and short stories, but many of them read comics and horror too. A popular novel author among us is Danielle Steel and the favourite horror authors are Dean R Koontz and Stephen King. According to our researches most of the girls read only once a week but many of them read more often. Of course girls read the books in Swedish, but many read in English too and some in German. Girls get their book tips from their friends and from magazines. Comic books or books containing facts are the favourite books among boys. Some of them also read novels, thrillers and philosophical books. Every day, once a week or 2-3 times a week is the time boys are reading books. The authors mentioned in the questionnaires are Dean R Koontz, Robert Jordan, Tom Clancy and Stephen King. Naturally boys, just like girls, read books in Swedish, but many read books in English and/ or German too. The tips on books boys get is from friends and the library. The library at Parkskolan is often seen as a good library. The broad choice of books and good service were recurrent comments. Of course there are people who think otherwise. It's quite a small library, but it's often used for studying. The library is not just open for the school, anyone can borrow their books there.
