7 September 1997 in Monza’s park : impact of the crowd on the environment. |
| Every year, on the first Sunday of September the Grand Prix of Italy takes place on the track of Monza. People come from all over Europe to watch this competition. The park in Monza is the biggest fenced park in Europe. It is about 7.5 millions square metres. The track was built in 1922, modified during the 70’s , it’s 5.8 km long. In 1995 a part of the track was changed to the pilots’ security. |

The work has been done to check the environmental situation before, during and after the race, in order to find out a solution to this problem. |

Improvement of the control system:
Damages of the trees: Most damages have been noticed in the green areas without stands, where fans do whatever they want to get a better view of the race, building dangerous stands, using ladders and climbing trees. Our proposal is to discourage the entrance into these areas a employing a system of wires and panels along the track in order to cover the whole view of it. More disassembling stands could located in areas without trees. |
|
The park in Monza: It was created as a hunting area for the royal family, but now it has a vital function as a green heart in one of the most populated and urbanized areas in Italy. It’s therefore absolutely necessary to preserve this estate and to avoid all the damages deriving from sport events. |
