Techno music is mostly instrumental, which sounds harder than
the sentimental disco. Techno music fits perfectly to club atmosphere.
The first electronic melodies begin to appear in Chicago as a type of
dance music. Soon it wins popularity and establishes as a new style,
new dance music, which is less pop-orientated, rougher, and provocative
to dance. The first DJs are Marshall Jeferson, Adonis, Farley "Jackmaster"
Funk and Tod Terry. The role of technical sounds and modules is at the basis of composing.

Techno maniacs form approximately 10% of the students, although the other 90%
don’t show any dislike for that type of music. The small techno society is
famous for being more open-minded and tolerant to people.
They have free and non-histrionic behavior.

Most of the rabid techno fans dress in loose trousers with lots of big colorful pockets
on them. The flowing T-shirt, usually twice the normal size, is common in combination
with long-sleeved one dressed beneath.
Not so wide spread among students is the typical techno hairstyling – pink or green
dyed hair are just single cases. But it is a fact that techno fans usually keep their hair short.
If you meet a girl, who wears rather unbecoming-colored necklaces and bracelets you can be sure
she is fond of techno.

There is no doubt you can hear electronic
music in every disco or club in the town. But
the listeners would rather organize house
parties or street parades. The dancing-in-the-
street established practice is more common in
the largest cities rather than in Stara Zagora.
It is an indistinguishing part of the teens’
celebrating. So, any fan could join a street
parade if they are eager.

The most popular rock groups among the students
in our school are ‘Linkin Park’, ‘Ramstein’ and
‘Metallica’. The fans of these and other metal bands
form groups on the basis of their musical interests.
In Bulgaria such people are widely known as ‘metals’
and they are mostly boys although girls also feature.

Again, there are some characteristics of their appearance
and behaviour that distinguish them from the others. They often have long, unkempt hairs, which they like to shake when they
sing and listen to their favourite music. They usually
wear jeans, heavy boots, leather jackets and T-shirts with
symbols on them. Just as the metal music is dark, they prefer
to dress themselves in black.
Since some of these people are worshipers of the Death
and the Devil, it is normal for them to wear rings and amulets
with figures of skulls, skeletons and demons. The most conspicuous
symbols, however, are the massive metal chains and the spiked
bracers, which the most ardent of them put on.

Some metal fans also use an interesting system of signs, which they
make with their hands. They use these signs to greet and to send messages
to each other.

One specific feature of the metal
music is that it is not suitable for
dancing and that is why you can rarely
see ‘metals’ going to a party or a disco.
On the contrary, rock concerts are an
unforgettable experience and are visited
by thousands. Still, most metal-lovers
listen to their music mainly on their own.
