Mom.. or Grandmother?

More and more women wait with getting pregnant. Why is that, and is it right for the children? Is it be cause they haven’t met Mr. Right, or do they want to make a career first?

Since 1975 and until 2001 the average age for women to have their first child has increased with four years. That depends partly on the fact that modern women want to get an education before they get children. And nowadays people need to go many years in school to get educated enough to get a job. It’s very hard in these days to get a job without education. And when the women have graduated they want to have some working experience before they get children.

Is this right for the children?

How do the children feel when their mother and father are nearly 70 years when they are teenagers? It’s very differently from child to child, because some parents are old, but not in their hearts and souls, and some are just old. But of course old parents have some advantage and some disadvantages. Two good things are that they have a lot of experiences, and they are more mature than most young parents are. One bad thing is that they don’t remember how it was to be a child, but if they do remember it, it probably wasn’t even close to being a child today. And they don’t know anything about fashion. And some children are embarrassed because of their old parents, but it’s not just children with old parents who are embarrassed by , almost every child has at least once been embarrassed because of their parents.

In America they have made a study that shows that couples who haven’t given birth to a child and are 37 years old, have 50% chance to get pregnant. And that is because it gets harder and harder to get pregnant the older you get.
Want to get pregnant?
If you are over 40 and want to get pregnant, there are some things you should do. And that is, stop smoking as soon as you can, do not drink alcohol, check your level of blood sugar, keep in shape, exercise, but not too much, do not eat any herb medicine and eat 400 microgram folic acid every day until you get pregnant. These things will help you to get pregnant easier. If you don’t get pregnant in three months you should see a doctor.
Risks
There are also some risks with getting pregnant when you are older. First, it’s easier to have a miscarriage, and also it’s a bigger risk that the children or the mother, or both, die of complications when the woman is over 40 year. The risks to have a miscarriage when you are 30 years is 10%, and when you are 40 years it’s 33%, and when you are 45 it’s 60 %. So the risks to have a miscarriage increase very fast from 40 to 45 years.
Fertility
The nature have made women in that way so they can’t have children after around 50 years of age, when they come into their fertility age. So the body has a reason not to get pregnant after the fertility age. But scientists and other people don’t care about that, so women have many options if they want to have children after they have come into their fertility age. The first way is that they can take an egg from a young person and put it in their own body, the other way have scientist come up with. They have made a birth control pill that can make so the women procrastinate their fertility age with 10-15 years. But if you want that, you need to start eating them when you are 20-30 years old. The pill helps your body to save the eggs so you can get pregnant when you stop eating the pill.
The oldest mom in the world
The oldest woman in the world who gave birth to her first baby, is a woman from India. She gave birth to a son in the beginning of this year, by then she was 65 years old.
