How does violence effect the mind

I'm playing computer games and watching TV pretty much in my spare time. All the time I hear different opinions if it dangerous or not to watch TV-violence and play games with
violence in it. Do we get more aggressive?

In one of the reports I have read, they have come to the solution that only 5-10% of the increase of
aggressions can be explained by the violence in TV, computer games etc. and that 90-95% is because of social problems. In the book “Growing up digital” they say that violence is a part of the
boys culture. In former days they played war in the woods or with tin soldiers, and now days
they play computer games.

Computer violence

In many families the parents often have rules about TV and video watching, what is allowed to watch and not. But not many parents know what computer games their children are playing, and that can be a serious mistake, many experts say, because the games are getting more like the real world,
because of the technology that is getting better. But then there are other experts that say that many games are in fantasy worlds and the games don't have so much bloody scenes because that would slow the game down. No one has the perfect answer it's up to the parents to draw the line. Even if it's not dangerous it isn't good to sit in front of a screen all day long.

TV violence

First I read about a researcher who thinks TV violence does effect children and he isn't alone. Many researchers says that they have good evidence that TV violence effects children who are watch a lot TV. They say that these children get more aggressive, restless and have harder more difficulties concentrate. But not all of them think like that, Ulf Dalquist is one of the researchers who don't believe you can check how much damage the violence does. There are many other factors that can be the explanation for the aggression, for instance if you are from a family with social problems if your parents are alcoholics or if you have been beaten as a child . These factors have much more effect on the children than watching TV. The point is that you cant know if the child would have been aggressive without the TV or not. But personally I don't think we are getting more aggressive, only if you have some kind of a mental problem.
