"... not we must simply bear the differences between the individuals and the groups, but on the contrary accept as the welcome ones, taking into consideration them as an enrichment of our existence. This is the essence of the true tolerance, understood in its widest meaning, without which it is not possible to place the problem of a true Morality..."
[Albert Einstein]

"I was born and grown up to the age of 6 in Solour, a small country of India, until a day I remember that some white skin gentlemen have come my home and, after a long discussion with my parents between the tears of my mother and the anger of my father , I had to go onto a pick-up van and took me away. I've never seen my parents from that time. A lot of people, listening to my story, try to let me understand how I'm lucky to live in a good economic condition family and in a country as Italy; however I answer to them that a girl like me, with a different skin colour and with origins like mine and it wasn't easy to be accepted and got well with the others. Even nowadays, that I'm 20 years old it isn't all so simple. As soon as I arrived in Italy I started the primary school in Monza, where I live and there the first problems arose. I was the only stranger girl in my class and all my schoolmates were looking at me with curiosity and with indifference; it was difficult for me to meet them: the fear to be refused or repelled was so great. I felt forced to hide what I was and feel that the only way to be accepted and find new friends, I had to put a mask on me that allowed me forged which was making me different. My character changed slowly without being conscious. I thought that the only way to get more attention and respect was to use the violence. This allowed me to find the approval among young of my age and it has allowed me to find new friends, who maybe for fear, said to be friends".
This is a girl's experience but there are other people who are living the same problem. Indifference and intolerance of people can cause not only uneasiness and solitude but they can change so as negative the character of a person, above all of young people.
In order to know the opinions of young people, we thought to suggest a questionnaire in few classes of our school, trying to involve the different ages. From the answers the results was that almost the majority of the interviewees give a relevant importance to help given to people considering this solidly behaviour:

The options are:

  1. Help the other when they need;
  2. Share of your friends' opinions;
  3. Behave always as your friends even if they mistake;
  4. I'm not jointly responsible.

We have seen that among people of our age people only the 16% actively devotes her time to the voluntary service activities and they consider them very grateful. Besides to give a useful contribution to people who needs, the voluntary service gives the possibility to know new people, to do various experiences but above all it gives awareness of the fact that the daily problems are often not comparable with the ones which characterise the life of the vulnerable part of the society.

During our days, at school, at the supermarket, at the traffic lights, we compare ourselves with people who are different from us for religion, origin, mentality or economic condition. From the questionnaire results hat most part of the interviews has declared to help these people (being near to them, comforting them) or, in a higher percentage, they say to behave as friend, as it is possible to deduce from the picture B. It means the fact that the analysed group of people hasn't any problem to compare with them (picture A)

The options are:
  1. You disregard;
  2. You laugh at them ;
  3. You treat with indifference;
  4. You help them;
  5. You behave as a friend.

By an attention analysis of the results obtained with the questionnaire, we can conclude that most boys have a good consideration for people the people who have characteristics, style of live different from them, o in any case they aren't involved at all; the fact is to observe if in the reality their behaviour corresponds to their thought. In Italy the phenomenon of the immigration is keeping on to grow in the last few years. Many people from Eastern Europe and from all the world come to our country to seek a good work, of an honest life, of a family; at times, however, not finding what thy were searching and seeing trampled their habits and values, they devote themselves to simple custom activity, at the underworld. Only with our good will, we could help them and improve their life and, at the same time, with small actions and more attention , we could feel more useful and available contributing to built a New World.
Well, why not to start in doing it
