It is hard to know who you can trust today in this world. There are criminals everywhere and you can’t know who is a pedophile. Even if you live in a small village that you think is peaceful you don´t know if your children are safe. You can live next door to someone who likes children in a sexual way or maybe there is someone at school who is looking at them. Not all schools check if their employees are convicted for child sexual crime. Even if they not are convicted they could look at child pornography. On the internet there are more than a hundred thousand child pornographic pictures and movies, easy for anyone to find. It is illegal to search for child pornography on the Internet. If someone discover child pornography on an employee’s computer the employer always have to report it to the police and never delete material like that from the computer. 3.000 every dayEvery day more than 3.000 children are forced in to the international trade in child sex. The children are exploited in prostitution, production and using of pornographic material, trade in children for sexual purpose within and among countries and continents. The children are also used for sex tourism. This is horrible and it has to be stopped before it goes to far.
The rights of the childAll children who are sexually exploited are wounded physically and psychically. The United Nation started to work on a convention of the rights of the child in 1979. After ten years of deliberations it was finished. 191 countries have approved the convention and it is only the USA and Somalia that haven’t done so. All the countries that have approved the convention have to protect the children from all kinds of sexual exploitation and sexual molestation. The states shall take appropriate action to prevent that a child is convinced or forced to take part in an illegal sexual action, is exploited for prostitution or other illegal activity or is exploited in pornographic material. All the states have to leave a report every fifth year to prove the observance of the convention. The reports show that most of the countries are trying very hard. Everyone can do something to helpThere are some things everyone can do to help to prevent that more children are getting exposed.
