Israel and Palestina - a conflict of life and death?

Israel has started to build up a barrier on the Westbank and around Jerusalem. The Israeli wall is estimated to be 650 kilometres long and in some parts more than twice as high as the wall in Berlin was.

The northern part of the wall, which mostly contains ditches, walls and barbwire is already finished. Israel says the the wall is neccesary to keep the terrorists out of the country. The so called Palestinian government has ofcourse contradicted the new structure..
If you can believe PLO the Israeli use the threats of terrorism as a reason to steal land from Palestine, but the critisism hasn’t only come from the Arabs. The condemnation has been near in unison. According to the UN the new wall is threatening the peace in the Middle East. The pope Johannes Paulus does the same analyses and has called the wall ”a new obstacle for peace”. The EU has judged the Israelian project and the president of the United States, George Bush has threatened to discontinuation loans if they continue the structure drawings.

A new Berlin wall?

Is the new Israeli wall an other wall like the one in Berlin? I don’t think so.
The 155 kilometre long Berlin wall was built up in August 1961 by the communist regime in the past East Germany with the purpose to keep the citizens from leaving their own country.
There isn’t any correspondence aim with the wall in Israel. Israelic citizens have never hed any problems with leaving their country. The Israeli wall is the opposite. It’s there to keep pelople from illegaly coming in to the country and commit crimes there.

Why a wall?

But why does Israel choose to build a wall? Why can’t they just be happy with checking peolpes’ identification? There are no contradictions with the two systems and the Israelian frontier guards will in the future still check identification documents of suspected persons.
The wall is there to catch those who choose not to travel through the hard guarded frontier outposts.

Israeli reasons

Do they really have a security problem? I think they do, but the bottomline is that they only have that issue because of themselves. They have now chosen not to return to their own land. The land that they got allowance to in 1948. And because of that the Palestinian suicide bombers come in and bomb, maybe as a protest for the Israeli way to see agreements.

Sulvation?

Is there ever going to be a sulvation? Well, I don’t know. And I don’t think anyone else do either. But I do know one thing. You don’t get anywhere by being stubborn.
