The Annual Art Activity

Each year in our school there is a special day called the Annual Art Activity on which our students can their various talents. The date used for the event is usually April 29th or May 1st. On that day we gather in a large hall in the center of the city, which in most of the cases gets really crowded with people willing to watch the activity. The audience consists mostly of students from our school, parents, teachers, friends and sometimes even special guests. As a tradition each Annual Art Activity is better than the previous one. Probably that is related to the fact the first year you go there as a spectator, while the next one rather as a participant. In fact, the good thing about the show is that there are no restrictions on what you can present to the audience. It could be anything, including songs, dances, plays etc.

But let us take a look at the Annual Art Activity 2004. The show started with a French interpretation of the play “We the sparrows” by Jordan Radichkov (a Bulgarian famous writer). Actually, the group presenting it had been sent to France on May 15th 2004 in order to participate in the International Festival of Young Actors. However, after their performance the lights went off and a boy announced the scheme of the show. As he left the stage Gergana started singing a traditional Bulgarian song.

Then it continued with the “Trio Folklore” presenting their newest folk dance (Bulgarian folk dances are traditional Bulgarian dances). The performance was really outstanding, therefore the audience applauded them several times during their dance. Next on the list were Radoslav (who is actually one of the authors of this article) and Veselin with their three synthesizers. They played an amazing remix of Culture Beat’s “Mr. Vain”. A significant part of the show was also the play “Evolution”, marking the different ages in the human evolution. Another great one was the play called “The school”, in which the acting students imitated the teachers in our school and made us all laugh. The show featured also the modern dance formation “Pulse”, presenting a magnificent dance set on Michael Jackson, two girls singing “Don’t speak” of No Doubt and many other interesting performances.

In general, that is the way the Annual Art Activity in our school looks like. We all really appreciate that day, because it allows us to express our ideas, show our personal talents and last, but not least, have a lot of fun.
