Ferrari Enzo

A Formula 1 on the road

Creating a special series gives Ferrari the chance to show of its latest technical achievements to its clients and to transfer F1 technology directly from the team to the engineers working on the road-going versions of the cars.

"Enzo’s engine is a completely new 12-cylinder which, like the aerodynamics of car, received the most direct transfer of F1 technology and techniques.

The first most steeking features of the engine is a very large specific horse power of 110 bhp/litre.

No normaly aspirated engine in existence can match this. Secondly, great emphasis was placed on reducing the weight of its moving parts: the wheels are made of titanium, the pistons were made with smallest compression ratio possible, the drive shaft was lightened as much as viable, and even the steering wheels and clutch diameters are much smaller.

Thirdly, the engine generates 67 kgm of torque at 5,800 rpm and 53 kgm at 3,000 rpm. Anyone who remembers the F40, renowned for the famous "slope" in accelleration from low speed, should be aware that while the F40 generated 40 kgm of torque, this engine manages 53!

"It is important that any Ferrari is easy to drive in extreme conditions. This meant two factors have to be guaranteed: that the driver would easily be able to interact with the car and the car would give him correct feedback on what is happening. The seat and pedals are all very easily adjustable as it is in Formula 1 cars. Each can be adjusted to 16 different positions to guarantee a perfect driver-car interface. The fundamental factor in this is the steering wheel. In this new engine "Enzo" and the buttons dotted across its surface, allow the driver to set the suspension, regulate or deactivate the traction control (ASR), and activate or desactivate the rear wheel drive. It also simultaneously provides the driver with a range of information to keep him abreast of what’s going on: for instance, a series of LEDs on the wheel tells him how many rpm the engine is doing and when he has to change gear."

Ferrari Enzo is a car made with the help of Schumi. He gives us the information for the aerodinamics and the comfort.

Do you think that this is a very fast car? This car goes over 350 Km/h!! Excuse me if it is less.

Does a car exist that can go faster than Ferrari Enzo? If you find this car write about it!! Thanks!!
