MORATTI’S REFORM

A Lot of students, in the last year and a half, have opposed themselves to the reform of our Minister of Education Ms. Letizia Moratti; too many people have not still understood what this reform represents it seems a a return to the past times in the world of the school.

This school reform proposes the existence of only two educational channels: the high grammar schools and the vocational schools, between which the students have to choose at the age of 14 years-old, without having the possibility to change their original educational choice.

This choice, surly conditioned by the familiar belonging context, will determine all the student life and will also redefine the appearance of the society creating a "class" of laborers and one of managers. Do you think that’s right?

The Charter of the students was issued from 1997 that decrees clearly that the behaviour mark can’t be taken in consideration to evaluate a student. n. With the Moratti’s Reform it will not be more therefore: our behavior will influence our school averages, and it is easy to think that for this reason people who make their best to improve the conditions of the students will be penalized; we will forget strikes and students’ self-management....

Glancing through the text of the law we searched the part in which was spoken about the plans of studies...

We found nothing! This, in fact, is a law issues by the Government that means that the Parliament will discuss only the general topics of the reform, assigning the real contents to next decree of Government that will define the school of tomorrow. In short we don’t know what we will study neither how we will study it. Minister Moratti will decide it later, without submit her decisions to the Parliamentary debate.

The school is the engine of our society, the knowledge is an indispensable public wealth in which the State has the duty to invest in order to offer to all citizens a free quality service but with this reform these values are less and less guaranteed.
