Floorball- a popular sport in Sweden!

When my sister and her team Örnsköldsvik took the silver medal in the swedish pastorship 2001.
Floorball is a very big sport here in Sweden. It´s the second biggest sport after Football. But Floorball is soon passing ahead, and the sport is increasing. We had 29 000 licensed players 1991 and today they are 150 000.
Sweden is the reigning world champions in both men and women Floorball. One of the most famous Swedish players is Martin Olofsson who plays in a Swiss club, called Alligatior Malans. Another one is Johanna Ekeroth who plays in a Swedish club called Lockerud/ Mariestad.
In the international Floorball Federation there are 32 country members. The last one who entered was France which came along in the turn of the year 2002 and 2003.
Örnsköldsvik – a real floorball town!
In Örnsköldsvik there is a big interest for Floorball. We have six clubs in Örnsköldsvik, Järved, GK 88, Nätra, BK 96, Moälven and Örnsköldsvik. BK 96 in the biggest one. This club has exactly 322 licensed members. But Örnsköldsvik is the most successful. The women in this club recently won the gold medal in the Swedish pastorship 2004.
I have told you about the best male player in Sweden, and probably in the world. He was born in Örnsköldsvik and he played in the club for many years.
I play in BK 96. The biggest club in Örnsköldsvik. But it´s not the first club I have played in. I started to play in Själevads IBF when I was eight years old. After a while exactly when I was thirteen the club couldn't afford the rent, so it went bankrupt.
Then I started in BK 96 and I have played there for five years now. I play in the juniorteam. I play defender in my team. The reason why i play Floorball is because it´s a very special sport. The sport is unknown in the world today. Floorball reminds you of ice hockey sometimes. You play it on a rubber floor. The best thing about Floorball is the friendship. I have played with the same team for two years now and we know each other very well. We got a very good fellowship.
I could highly recommend Floorball for everybody who wants to learn about the sport and to make new friends.
