An open school

In conformity with the last recorded statict in Italy, around 21% of children have foreigner parents.

To exploit to the utmost the relationship with this new part of population is necessary a new intercultural approach, or rather communication, attention, correlation and hearing.

How?

Through availability of times and initiative of Italian learning

Through integration

Through the recognition and exploitation of linguistic and cultural contributions and the possibility to change the stories of their life

But now we must unravel this knotty problem: the integration of children in the school and in other places.

For example, in my oratory (youth centre), on Tuesday and on Friday, from 14.00 to 17.00 we help children to do homeworks, to learn Italian, to socialize with Italian children, but it’s very difficult, because they have a lot of fear that people have a mind full of prejudices.

I think that people should be free from prejudices, because foreigners are normal people like us! And so many times Italian children are influenced by their parents, who are suspicious towards foreign people, and so they tell them not to play games with unknown children or do activities with them!

What do you think about integration?

And foreign people?

Are there any problems in your country?
