In the last years books have been overtaken by the television programs. Books are useful to develop the culture of teenagers, and they don’t influence our thought.
	Girls read more books than boys, but also the kind is different. In fact, the first ones prefer romantic novels and romances, while the second ones prefer thriller and adventure books. Perhaps, only a little minority reads history books or the ones that deals with more complex matters, as books of literature or of great writers that use difficult language.
	Teenagers don’t love reading because they must have more concentration and the books are considered less interesting. Moreover, a boy after having spent all morning over the books of school, he prefers to do something else in his free time. For this reason the television has deprived the books and it has become the first
mean of communication. It’s different also the TV programs that boys usually watch comparing the girls’ ones. In fact, boys prefer watching sport programs and police films. While, girls love watching television films, as Gilmore Girls, Dawson Creek, O.C.. In the last years there are the reality shows, as Big brother, The Farm, that have captured the interest of many people. Apart from amusing programs, teenagers also watch the news on television because they consider them important to know the events in the world. Personally I prefer to watch a good television film instead of reading a book. But, during the summer when I have more free time I usually read some books with pleasure to spend my free time.
