How young people live

Many things young people do and how they live depend on in which country they live in. In Sweden school starts in the middle of August and finishes in the beginning of June. In Malta they start in the end of September or the beginning of October and finish in the end of June. But why is it like this?
Is it for any reason?

Everybody knows that they are big diffrences between how young people live in diffrent countries. But how big are the diffrences? Is it any diffrences if you live in scandinavia or if you live in a country near the the Mediterranean. The answer is obviously yes, you can find big diffrences. For example how youg people live in Malta compared whit how they live in Sweden.

I have been in Malta twice and I think that it is a very lovely country, but I think it’s difficult to understand how it is to live in a country if you dont live there. When you are on a holiday you only get to see the good sides of the country and not the ordinary life. But even if you are there for a short time you can notice diffrences.

School
In Sweden young people start school in the middle of August and finish in the beginning of June. In Malta on the other hand, they start in the end of September or the begining of october. This depends on the climate. In Malta it’s too hot to start school in August and thats why they start and
finsh school later then us here in Sweden.

How schools look is totally different from school to school. For example Parkskolan in Sweden is a school who has dvd players and TV in every classroom. There are also flowers in most of the classrooms and that's because the students will feel like they are welcome in to the classroom. In Malta the school is not like that. For example in the Antonio Bosio school for boys in Sliema, Malta the classrooms are very simple and you cant find any technical equipment if you dont bring it yourself.

Life after school
Even how young people live after school is different. In Sweden you have to be 18 years old to be allowed to go to a bar but in Malta you can be 16 and sometimes even younger.

In Sweden a lot of people think that if you can go out when you are 16 you will start drinking a lot but actually young people drink more in Sweden than they do in Malta. When you drink in Sweden some people do it because they want to be drunk. But when young people drink in Malta it’s more like a social thing, you do it because you think it tastes good.

Malta is a country with a lot of tourists especially during the summer. That makes the Maltease people more tolerant toward people from other countries and they dont have as much prejudices as for example young people in Sweden have.

This is only a few things that are different between these two countries and you can make a list that would be really long. But the bottom line is that we are all young people and we live on the same earth and we have all the same feelings and thoughts no matter where we live.
