How was it when our mothers and fathers growth up? To take care of their siblings was very common, pretty much as today but also much has changes since then. I have interviewed my mother to find out more about what they did in their spare time and that sort of things. My mothers name is Rose-Marie and she had 5 siblings, she was the oldest one.

You have to be much more engaged today, in school for an example. When I went to school you did not have a teacher who called home every time you skipped a lesson. Parents meeting Where hold 1 time/year. When I did not take care of my brothers and sisters I often went the youth recreation centre with my friends or played the guitar. The youth recreation centre closed 21.30, and then it was time to go home. If you where lucky mum could have saved some food from dinner. But many times she had not. My mother was working at night, so every morning I took my brother and sister to school so my mother could sleep. After school when I came home, I prepared for dinner because mother was still asleep. Once a week, big boats whit fruit came, so you could buy some in the town. Fruit was not cheap so we did not often buy fruit, only at Christmas and other special days. You did not take a shower very often either, today you can shower every day if you want to, but we only showered once a week, often at Sundays.
