AFRICA

In most of the African countries people live in poverty, degradation and disgrace. In this countries the children born with illnesses like HIV, HEPATITIS A, B or C (is more

dangerous that any other form of hepatitis). Every day in Africa HIV kills 6600 people, 8800 are being infected with the HIV virus, and 1400 newborn babies are

infected during childbirth or by their mother’s milk. Other illnesses are CHOLERA, MALARIA, MEASELS, CHICKENPOX …this kids borned with illnesses because

their parents had no money for the medicines, in most of the cases the children died. But in the rich countries children don’t die because of

measles or chickenpox; we have enough money to pay for a private doctor or we usually go to the

hospital. These people don’t have a hospital and not even a doctor and they have to walk for miles to find

a cure.

In these countries the life is awful, most of the children are ill, under-nourished, maltreated and often

forced to prostitute. In the past, the African people were at the mercy of slave-traders.

In 1926 after the First World War, the slavery was abolished at global level, but this doesn’t mean that the

slavery has ended, because every day more people and children still become slaves.

We don’t have to worry for our future, we are lucky.

We don’t have to worry for the food or the water, but in Africa the food is scarce and the water is polluted and in most occasion people and children (like in this photo)

starve to death.

In Africa, every day there is a civil war. A large part of the warriors are children. Most of them die and the others are mutilated for life. This is so wrong, because they

should have a normal childhood.

This is no life.

We should thank to all those people who risk their lives every day to help others. There are a lot of association who try to help people but their funds aren’t enough. If each

one would give 1 € some of the problems could be solved.

I remember that in my previous school we have adopted a boy and a girl from Africa. During the break we

used to prepare a cake and we used to sell each piece of cake for 0,50 €. We continued till we had

enough money to maintain them for a year. I think that is a good idea and we could all do the same. For

us 0,50 € mean nothing, but for these people maybe their survival.
