VOLUNTARY WORK

I want to write about a debate I’ve recently read in an article; it is about millions of Italians that carry out voluntary service.

The army defends their territory in case of natural disasters along with the weak, sick, poor people, troubled adolescents, immigrants, drug addicts, prisoners and prostitutes.

Choosing to do a voluntary service shows responsibility towards those less lucky persons and to underline the values of solidarity in a society that is more and more competitive.

To help people that have some needs should be a duty for all us, without considering mistakes or principles of whose we help. Sometimes it’s possible that, in many case, the need is the consequence of wrong choices, but that doesn’t take away the duty of solidarity to the community.

Offering your own time for the well-being of fellow men is the noblest quality that you can express to a human being.

The love for your neighbour is inside the Christian tradition ant it is rooted in our Western Country. Therefore, it isn't accidental that 40% of voluntary people are from Christian religion. Developed of an half seventy year the action of voluntary service provides a phase of maturity. We have to provide an organisation to be efficient and effective, so that it doesn't create confusion and disappointment.

There are a lot of people who decide to work in voluntary service to provide good work helping the others and staying with them.

A great motivation is required for the development of skills in order to do the right work for the recovery of people who need our help.
