In Europe and America they are very interested in motorsports. Formula1 and MotoGP are very big in Europe. NASCAR and Indycar are very big in America. Millons of people go to the track and see the fast machines and they drive a round 200 km/h to 350 km/h.

Formula 1
Formula 1 is big in many countries especially in Germany, and one of the best drivers is from there. His name is Michale Schumacher and drives for Ferrari. Million people at home see the race on TV and over a hundred thousand went to the track, to see the formula cars when they drive a round 350 km/h. It's a very dangerous sport, many accidents and sometime death accidents have share in the tracks.

MotoGP
MotoGP is a another big sport in Europe. They drive motorcycles in different classes. 125 cc, 250 cc and MotoGP. A famous man in this sport is Valentino Rossi. Rossi has dominated the track for many years. He is almost as huge as the pope. Over a hundred thousand people went to the track to see MotoGP live. Valentino has driven over 147 Grand Prix and of them he has won over 74 times. Four times in a row he has been the world champion in MotoGP.

NASCAR
NASCAR is one of Americas biggest sports. In February 1948 the first race took place, and that was in Daytona USA. Daytona is number one in NASCAR, once a year the race takes place there and many people see the race. The drivers drive about 300 laps. TV made NASCAR even bigger, because many people can follow it at home. Today NASCAR is a big business and turns over billion US dollar.

Indicar
Indycar is like Formula1, but they never drive in Europe. The cars can have different power in the engine, but in Formula1 they must have the same power, that is the difference between Indycar and Formula1. Many accidents have happened in the track, but most of the car drivers have survived because the safety has been more developed. The first race started in Indianapolis. In 1965 Indycar came on TV, ABC sent the race, and that was a success Back to frontpage
