A Swedish girl visiting New York

A friend of mine has been to New York for just a few days. She talks about all fun things she did there. She says that New York is the coolest city she has ever been to and has seen. They say that New York never sleeps, is that true?

The Statue of Liberty

Broadway

The first thing she saw in New York was that they have a lot of Security checks. The Americans were very straight with the people they let into the country. And why they are so suspicious about everyone can have a lot to do with the disaster that happened in 11 September.
The Americans were very easygoing, they were very brave, they could come up to you, and start talking to you, even if you never had seen him or her before. They where not shy, not at all. And Camilla, my friend thinks that was very nice.
The city, New York was very big, and I mean really big. There were streets crossing everywhere, and all the things we have seen on TV and in movies, she has seen it for real, and according to her it was really cool.
New York has everything, and she means everything. They have the coolest theatres, the best sights, for example Empire States Building, and The Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Rockefeller centre, New York public library, and much more. She thinks it was like more people were awake during the nights, than in the days. We say; New York never sleeps, and it’s because they are always awake. Camilla was there on New Years Eve, and that night they went to a place called Times Square, and there they saw many performances for example they saw Mariah Carey. She told me that it was the greatest time of them all, to see her.

They visited many places in New York, for example: The statue of liberty, Ground Zero (it was there the two twin towers were). She also visited the large malls for shopping. One evening they were in a place called Rockefeller centre to see people go skating. And one cool thing she did was to go up to the top of Empire State Building. The view was very wonderful from up there. The food they ate the most was hamburgers and pizza. The size of the hamburgers was the same as here in Sweden. Yellow taxicabs drove around everywhere in the streets, just as they do on TV. A typical American breakfast in New York could be a bagel with scrambled eggs and bacon.

New York is a business town where a lot of business men and business women live. It’s not a city for families because there are no houses there, everyone live just in apartments. Ordinary detached houses don't fit because there are so much people there. And when a lot of people live in a relatively small area they must build large houses, so they expand them on the height. That creates the skyscrapers.
