Teenagers and Money

Nowadays, most people spend their lives earning money. But how does all this reflect on teenagers’ minds?

It seems that, in a world of continuous economic progress, slowly but surely, money is coming to be the most important thing for young people, no matter they are taught to have different values from material comforts. I think that money is definitely turning out to be a moral value for today’s teenagers

Every boy and girl at the age of seventeen, for example, wants to impress their peers with expensive clothes and shoes. The worst thing is

that discrimination is growing between rich and these who can’t afford fashionable clothes. There are small

communities of young people where money is adored and, somehow, it becomes a way of life. Brand-new clothes can raise jealousy and envy. The reality is that stylish outfit is believed to cause lack of confidence in poor children.
Unfortunately, today corruption is at such a high level that teachers often have higher expectations for richer students. For instance, this special attention can include providing more challenges and opportunities for these children. So, teachers make judgements on appearance, not abilities. In this way there is a high risk for diligent students to get discouraged, they stop working hard and doing their best. Consequently this can become a reason for the future success or failure of the teenagers

Another point is that the best students, determined and hard-working, are stimulated only by scholarships. They aren’t motivated by the ambition to be smart and intelligent but by the inner desire to gain fortune. Thus money has become a strong motive for teenagers to amass knowledge thinking about money. All things considered, young people must be aware of the use and importance of money, they must realize that money is device, but not purpose.
