Bad Habits Die hard...

A habit is any action that we have performed so often that it becomes almost an involuntary response. If we consider this habit to be undesirable then we may label it a

"bad habit"

During the past centuries we have accumulated a lot of bad habits .Today it is hard to remove them and their effects. Bad habits include excessive drinking,

smoking, bad eating, not eating at all and the list can go one ….Hm… let’s take a look at some of this problems.

First of all : bad eating :

People in the 21st century are eating genetically modified food, a lot of fats, no

proteins and have irregular meals. Why? We could blame our society who

transformed our life style. We are always on the run and we don’t have time

for complete or regular meals, so we eat in fast-foods. => (the result) the

population is getting fatter and fatter. We don’t practice sport anymore and in our

free time we are lazy and we prefer watching TV or playing on the computer to

practicing sports. We should, also thank publicity for this anomaly of our society.

On the opposed side we find “no eating life styles”. People (I mean some girls) are obsessed of their image and see themselves as too fat even tough they are actually

skinny. This false idea of one’s own body can lead to serious  problems like anorexia and bulimia. A good example of these eating disorders it’s given by some famous

stars.

Excessive drinking

In my opinion drinking is not always bad; socially drinking is very common and it can sometime help you be more relaxed and

have more courage in talking to people, but with moderation. Too much alcohol can give you too much courage and too much

courage can get you into a lot of trouble. But alcohol also makes us see and think unclearly. And let’s not forget that alcohol

(especially on an empty stomach) burns brain cells and tortures our liver and a repeated abuse of alcohol leads to cirrhosis and

eventually death.

Smoking and doping

I think this subject doesn’t need any presentation, everybody knows it’s effects but quitting isn’t very easy .Some don’t want quit

others can’t. Why are old habits so hard to break? A new study suggests that over time, our bad habits (such as smoking

cigarettes or over eating) become automatic, learned behaviors. Even if we consciously try to put new good intentions into

place, those previously learned habits remain stronger in more automatic, unconscious forms of memory.

Over passing bad habits is a difficult task that requires motivation and patience. A good way to eliminate a bad habit is to

substitute it with a good one. I too should try to practice some of these advicesJ.
