Global Warming

It’s a fact: our planet is heating up too fast and many living species are going to die out and WE are to blame.
Each time we spray an aerosol product, use our cars or burn fossil fuels for our energy, we are contributing to the “greenhouse effect.” Scientists say that “most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activity.” Global warming is also affecting the glaciers in the north and South Pole which means that as they melt, the world’s sea level is expected to rise by two metres in the next ten years! Although that doesn’t seem very much, it could have catastrophic effects. Also, by creating a warmer environment, the amount of mosquitoes will increase, as this aids their reproduction rate!
Although global warming seems inevitable, there are things we can do to slow it down. Instead of using spray on deodorant, we could all switch to using roll-on which is far less damaging to the environment. Also, we take our cars for granted nowadays and often use them unnecessarily. Obesity is also a major issue in Britain and America nowadays so by starting to use cars only when necessary, would be beneficial not only to helping the environment but to also helping to tackle obesity. Another way everyone in the world could help to slow down the rate of global warming is by using less energy. This will also be less costly to your household as well as energy bills would decrease. When you leave a room, remember to turn all the lights off so as not to waste electricity and make sure you always turn your TV off properly and don’t just leave it on standby as this wastes more energy than having it on in the first place!
It may seem that one person can’t make a difference but if everyone took that attitude, our planet would be in a right mess!
The western part of the world is the main contributor towards global warming, mainly because of our consumer, money driven society. So if the eastern side of the world can live without contributing so much towards global warming then why can’t we?
