THE WWE

The WWE (World Wrestling Entertaiment) is an American federation. Its main purpose is to entertain people with its shows around the world.

The shows are hold in special arenas that are always full of people. It is a publicly traded, privately controlled integrated media, sports, and entertainment company

dealing primarily in the professional wrestling industry, with major revenue sources also coming from movies, music, product licensing and direct produce sales.

Vince Mcmahon is the majority owner and chairman of the company and his wife Linda Mcmahon holds the position of chief executive officer(ceo);together with their

children, executive vice president of global media Shane Mcmahon and senior vice president of creative writing Stephanie Mcmahon, the Mcmahons hold approximately

70% of WWE’s economic.

WWE’s business focus is on professional wrestling;it is currently the largest professional wrestling promotion in the world, and holds an extensive library of videos

representing a significant portion of the visual history of professional wrestling. The promotion previously existed as the capitol wrestling corporation, which promoted under

the banner of the world wide wrestling federation(WWWF),and later the world wrestilng federation(WWF).

WWE’s revenue in fiscal 2006 (from May 2005 to April 2006) was approximately $400 million(US), with a net profit of approximately $47 million; as of August 2006

the company’s market capitalization is over $1 billion(US).

The WWE has got many characters like John Cena (he comes from Boston, he’s a rapper and he has won the U.S. Championships and the WWE Title), Dave Batista (he

has won the 2005 Royal Rumble and he’s the World Heavyweight Champion), Triple H (is defined "the cerebral murderer" for his cruelty and violence, he has won the

World Heavyweight Championship ten times and he has been the King of the Ring many times).

I’ve already said that the WWE is the main federation, but there are other groups like the ECW (Extreme Championship World); Bobby Lashley is the champion of this

category. Other members of ECW are Big Show and Rob Van Dam. The main shows of WWE are Smackdown and Raw; the most important is the second because there

are the harder fighters of the world and there are many and important titles to win (Intercontinental Championship, Hardcore Championship and Women’s Championship).

The most important shows of Smackdown and Raw are in Pay per View; every show has a name.

The best of them is Wrestle Mania where wrestlers can win lots of belts. It happens in March-April. The day before this competition there is Hall of Fame.

In it, legendary wrestlers receive some prizes for them brillant carieer.

Smackdown’s shows are direct by Teddy Long (the General Manager) and they are only on Friday night, while Raw’s shows are direct by Eric Bischoff (G.M.) and they are

only on Monday night.

In finally, I can say that the WWE is a violent sport but is funny to see and I’m very happy when I can watch it on Tv.
