Relationships between people in a block of flats

That most people in Bulgarian towns live in blocks of flats determines the great attention we attribute to relationships between neighbours.

By a general confession, such relationships should be as smooth as possible so that everyone in the ‘community’ experiences no bad feelings.

Of course, it is almost impossible all neighbours to be quiet, understanding and benevolent to each other. In fact, things sometimes could be pretty nasty.

I was to find out that last week when I went to bed early looking forward to a deep slumber. My sleep, however, would last only a couple of hours, interrupted by the crazy party downstairs.

If you are always tolerant to your neighbours you would expect your attitude to be reciprocated. Well, I did, too. So, it came as somewhat of a shock to experience a situation like that. It was extremely exasperating not only because I could not get a proper sleep, but also because my tolerance was not appreciated.

However, relationships between people living in a block of flats do not, by any means, bring only bad emotions. Often, neighbours share attachment that is rarely found in modern society.

For example, some of my neighbours invite me regularly to their place for a snack or just to watch the match on TV.

In conclusion, people in a block of flats cannot be good or bad only. That is why you should seek to be friend with those who deserve and at the same time speak your mind to those who cause troubles.
