Reflections from a relationshipexpert

Relationships are not always as easy as they should be. That's why I'll give you some advice.

Part 1 – Find him
Finding the right man can be very hard, complicated and it takes a lot of time. I know some of you still kiss frogs in hope they will transform into a prince. The others wait for the prince to come riding on a white horse. My advice to you is to do both: Sit down and wait until the frogs are coming to you.

Part 2 – Make him yours
Finding him is one thing, making him yours is even harder, and you have to be well prepared. It's easy to screw up and you normally only have one chance. Some girls talk a lot and try to make themselves irresistible while other girls pretend to be hard to catch. My advice – as above: do both.

Part 3 – Keep him
Now that you have caught Mr. R, you must learn how to keep him, else you'll loose him before you've even learned his name. Well, one easy way to keep him is simply to be with him all the time. He'll have no chance to leave you and you're always keeping an eye on him. Another thing you can try is to do the opposite. Give him the space he wants and needs. Don't hang around him all day just yo see what he is up to. Let him live his own life. But if I were you I would do as I do: both. Tie him up and leave. I can assure you have him where you want him.

Part 4 – Raise him
I take for granted you used my way of keeping the guy and if you did, it's time to raise him. You don't want him to watch football all day drinking beer, huh? You want him to be your adviser when you go shopping and someone who cries to OC with you. And you definitely need someone who paints your toenails. So what's the secret?

You often hear about nagging. “Nag him until his ears are bleeding”. That will probably help. You also hear about the sensitive subject “my ex used to...”. I promise you he'll be so jealous he doesn't want anything else but to paint your nails. Personally I think I have a better solution: do both. Nag him to change the footballchannel to your programme and if he refuses, threat him to go back to your ex. I can guarantee he'll change the channel.

Part 5 – Dump him
I guess you don't want to stay with your boyfriend forever. It must end someday and now that you're tired of watching OC all day you need some “single-air”. You can dump a guy in many different ways. You either choose the kind/weak way and tell him that you're not breaking up with him, you just want to take a short break and then continue again. Otherwise you can simply tell him the truth. That you don't have any feelings left and that you no longer want to be together with him. But as an adviser I must say neither of them are good enough. Do like I do instead: use both. Tell him that you're not breaking up – you're just not together anymore.
