How would you react if you, as the only one surviving, were left on Earth after a big catastropfe? “It never happens, ” you may say. I agree it sounds a bit unlikely, but think of it. Some people say the meaning of life is relationships. I don't know if it's true or not, however, relationships are something that we need and we feel good when they work well. Good relationships are important for good health. I believe it's important to have a sound relation to yourself to be able to have sound relationships to others. If you have a good self-esteem and you know that you are valuable the way you are, then I think it's easier to accept others the way they are and see their values. There are numbers of different kinds of relationships. Every single relation is unique but somehow you can put it in a “category”. Even if you are yourself all the time, which you should be of course, you still have different roles. Let me give you an example: Imagine a woman. She works as a doctor and she's married with children. She's surrounded by people all day at work and at home. She's got roles like mother to her children and wife to her husband. She's a daughter, sister, and friend. She's also a doctor and a collegue. I think we need these different types of relationships. I think it would be quite odd if a doctor treated a patient like her mother or her grandma like her son. Good communication is important in a relationship. Just like we have different roles we also adjust the language to the situation and the person in question. No one would talk to an old gentleman the same way as they talk to a newborn baby. I've tried to write down some of my own thoughts about relationships. Now back to the question in the beginning of this text. How would you react if you were left alone? And: How comes that we sometimes feel lonely even though we're not alone?
