Blogs – The phenomenon

To write in a diary is something that's been going on forever it seems. People have always found it interesting and important to document their lives and keep track of their feelings. A diary has always been something very private and sacred, a secret only to be revealed when the writer of the diary is found to be dead.

Now, instead of sharing our diaries with no one, we share them with the rest of the world. We write blogs.
But why do we want to share our private diaries with unknown people? Everybody needs someone to listen to their problems when they're having a hard time, and maybe this is just like therapy for the soul, to write about your problems and know that somewhere someone is reading about them and maybe showing some compassion by commenting something encouraging.

A blog is whatever you want it to be, there are no rules. That's probably way so many people find it attractive, no grammar police will be picking on you for not starting each sentence with capital letters, or not putting any full stops in your posts what so ever. You have your very own homepage where you can do whatever you please (as long as it's legal and not hurting anybody, of course). The freedom is extraordinary these days, when almost everything has rules and boundaries that you cannot cross. The blog is your opportunity to say exactly what's on your mind and share your emotions on the world wide web.
If I, a normal un-famous person, were to sell my handwritten diary, I probably wouldn't earn a single penny.
However, if I were to write about my life in an interesting way on a blog, I could very well make a lot of money. These are the times when blogging is a full time payed job. The are numerous types of blogs, every one unique of course, but I have divided them into 3 categories to make the whole thing a bit easier to understand if you are a blog-rookie.

The fashion blog;
Where trendy girls and boys constantly pose with their latest purchase, constantly consuming more shoes, dresses and it-bags. The whole thing is very loveable, cute and smart, and that's probably why so many fashion-blogs are earning stacks.

The normal everyday blog;
Relatively normal people write about their often boring weekdays and more exciting weekends in small towns, or maybe about their new life in a new country. Mixing posts with songlyrics, youtube videos with indie songs and maybe some poetry. They don't make the big money but it feels really intimate and special to read these blogs.

The famous people blog;
Is exactly what it sounds like, famous people writing about their famous lifes. It might be artists, actors, politicians or journalists that are revealing secrets about their lifes.
